diabetes symptoms




The most common symptoms are according to the type of diabetes are:

Type 1 diabetes happens most often in children, adolescents or young adults but can appear at any age. Symptoms may include:

  • Constant need to urinate
  • unusual thirst
  • extreme hunger
  • Unusual weight loss
  • Extreme fatigue and irritability
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease in which there are high levels of sugar (glucose) in the blood. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of this disease.
  • Any of the symptoms of diabetes type 1
  • frequent infections
  • blurred vision
  • Cuts / bruises that are slow to heal
  • Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
  • Recurrent infections of the skin, gums or bladder
Gestational diabetes is a form of diabetes mellitus induced by pregnancy. No known cause of this type of disease, but is believed to reduce pregnancy hormones, the ability of the body to operate and respond to the action of insulin-

Usually there are no symptoms or mild and not life threatening to the pregnant woman. The level of sugar (glucose) in the blood usually returns to normal after delivery.
Symptoms may include:

  • blurred vision
  • fatigue
  • Frequent infections, including those of the bladder, vagina and skin
  • Increased thirst
  • Increased urination
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Weight loss despite increased appetite
Risk factors for gestational diabetes include:
  • Overweight before pregnancy
  • Gestational diabetes during a previous pregnancy
  • Family history of diabetes
Do not have symptoms? You may still have diabetes

Often people with type 2 diabetes have no symptoms. Therefore it is important to make diabetes risk test to find out if you are at risk for type 2 diabetes.
Also, often women with gestational diabetes have no symptoms, so it is important for women who are at risk for it to get tested at the right time during pregnancy.
